Welcome To October!

Spring has sprung and our local community has a wonderful month of events in store for you this October in the Campbelltown/Macarthur region.

From festivals and markets, to theatre performances, concerts and stargazing, there are plenty of fun and exciting things to get up to with the whole family. And don’t forget Halloween! We just cannot wait to see all the creative and spooky costumes around the neighbourhood.

Here is a round up of our favourite events for the month for you to enjoy.

 

CAMPBELLTOWN NIGHT MARKETS

When: 6:00PM-10:00PM, Friday 4th & Friday 18th October 2019
Where: Mawson Park, Cnr Queen Street and Cordeaux Street, Campbelltown
Cost: Free Entry

Experience an evening of culinary delights from a variety of street food vendors, wander through boutique market stalls and be entertained by live performers, all within the heart of the Campbelltown CBD.

Together with market providers Eat Shop Love, we’re making the first and third Friday of each month a foodie haven in Mawson Park. Indulge your taste buds and enjoy open-air dining under ambient lighting, nestled within the green spaces of one of the city’s most popular parks. Even the little ones will be entertained by a range of activities – there’s something for everyone!

Patrons are encouraged to utilise public parking throughout the Campbelltown CBD. Parking locations including road side, Broughton Street and Short Street car parks.

STARGAZING – CAMPBELLTOWN ROTARY OBSERVATORY OPEN NIGHT

When: 6:00PM – 9:00PM, Saturday, 5th October 2019
Where: Campbelltown Rotary Observatory, Western Sydney University, University Drive and Mily Way Drive, Campbelltown
Cost: Gold Coin Donation

WSU’s multiple telescopes can show you numerous interesting objects which are only visible in the night sky, including the Moon, planets, nebulae and galaxies.In conjunction with Dr Ragbir Bhathal and the Campbelltown Rotary Observatory at WSU they invite guests and visitors to enjoy a night at The Domes. They encourage everyone to make use of this great facility and enjoy exploring the night sky. This event is weather permitting – visit Observatory website or contact the society for confirmation and times.

Directions: Observatory should only be approached via Goldsmith Avenue. Turn right at University Drive and drive up to Milky Way. Just follow the signs for the Macarthur Heights Sales Office, which is across the road from the Observatory.

Accessibility: The Observatory is reached via a public stairway from Milky Way. People with disabilities are advised to contact the Society in advance at the email provided for information regarding accessibility to the site and potential use of the telescopes.

PLAYSCHOOL LIVE IN CONCERT

When: 10:00AM and 12:00PM, Friday, October 11th 2019
Where: Camden Civic Centre, Cnr Oxley and Mitchell Streets, Camden
Cost: From $22

Humpty is putting on a surprise show! Join him as he gathers together the Play School Toys to help with the big spectacular. There are starring roles for Jemima, Big Ted, Little Ted and guest appearances from other Play School favourites along the way. Filled with fun songs to sing and dance along with, this 45 minute show will delight Play School fans.

As with the television program, there are songs to move to, as well as quiet times to just watch and listen.The concert is presented by two Play School presenters, along with everyone’s favourite Play School toys. The familiarity of the material and the presenters combined, totally engage the young audience and encourage lots of audience participation.

AUSSIE NIGHT MARKETS – CLUB MENANGLE

Aussie Night Markets are on at Club Menangle and offer an international food market teeming with over 40 international street food vendors, a dessert section, high quality art and craft, kiddie rides and entertainment.

MEN’S LONG LUNCH IN SUPPORT OF LIFELINE

When: 12:00PM-3:00PM, Friday, October 18th 2019
Where: Rydges Campbelltown, 15 Old Menangle Road, Campbelltown

Proudly supporting men’s health, Lifeline Macarthur are inviting you to join them for their Men’s Long Lunch on Friday the 18th of October.

Your attendance, donations and support enable Lifeline to provide crisis support and suicide prevention services to the local community, supporting men in Macarthur living with mental illness.

Hear from guest speakers Allan Sparkes (CV, OAM, VA, FRSN), Pete Wilson and Erik Horrie, and receive a complimentary drink on arrival, gourmet canapé lunch, raffles and live entertainment in support of this fantastic cause.

DARYL BRAITHWAITE LIVE

Where: The Cube, Campbelltown Convention and Entertainment Centre, 20-22 Camden Road, Campbelltown

FISHER’S GHOST INVESTIGATION GHOST TOUR

When: 6:30PM-10:30PM, Saturday, 19th October 2019
Where: Koshigaya Park Car Park, Camden Road, Campbelltown
Cost: $79 per person

Join the amazing Jen and Jeanette from Sydney Investigation Ghost Tours as they take you on an exciting, spooky adventure inside one of Campbelltown’s most haunted buildings.

Tour includes proper investigation, psychic protection, use of paranormal equipment, hot & cold non-alcoholic beverages….and so much more!Participants must be 18 years of age or over and no alcohol is allowed prior to or during the investigation. CASEY CHAMBERS THE CAPTAIN – 20TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

COMMEMORATING THE LAST SUCCESSFUL MOUNTED INFANTRY CHARGE IN HISTORY

Club Menangle invites you to attend the annual Beersheba Day Breakfast to commemorate the history changing Australian Light Horse charge that happened on October 31 in 1917. The Beersheba Day commemorative service will reflect on the battle as we highlight the importance of preserving the history, tradition and customs of Light Horse Regiments for future generations. The service will be followed by a buffet breakfast in the Miracle Mile Restaurant.

Club Menangle is proud to be involved with the Seventh Light Horse Regiment Menangle Historical Troop and they will present their activities and role in the community.

Dress code is business attire with medals.
