What’s On In November

Welcome To November

When it comes to entertainment and events for the whole family, November is one of the best months of the year in our local community, with a full calendar of fun set for the Campbelltown/Macarthur region.

From our iconic Festival of Fishers Ghost and Campbelltown 2020 event, to the Crusty Demons, Jacaranda Festival and plenty of Christmas events, you just won’t know how to fit everything in.

Here is our pick of our favourite events for the month for you to enjoy.

FESTIVAL OF FISHER’S GHOST

History meets horror at this locally haunted ten-day Halloween fair

Australia’s only apparition-focused festival is setting up spooks in Sydney once again. The Festival of Fisher’s Ghost has been taking over Campbelltown since 1956 with a host of free, quirky events around the region commemorating emancipated convict Fred Fisher, who’s said to have appeared to police in 1826 in post-living form to guide them to his remains and murderer.

This year, the celebrations are running from November 1-10, kicking into gear on Queen Street for the annual parade on Saturday, November 4. The parade showcases the legend of Fisher’s Ghost, a unique part of Campbelltown’s history, and the diversity of the local community in a vast array of creative forms. It’s energetic, lively and colourful, and this year the parade theme is: We Could Be Heroes.

This will be a ghostly affair and attendees are encouraged to dress to a theme, with this year’s party celebrating heroes in all their forms, from Wonder Woman to local emergency service workers and volunteers.

The following weekend there’ll be a huge street fair, which in the past has seen hundreds of stalls offering food, show bags, handmade jewellery and fashion, as well as a play zone for families and kids.

For those with more of a fierce constitution, there’s thrilling carnival rides and games on Bradbury Oval throughout the festivities. Other festival highlights include Nerd Con (a sci-fi and fantasy gathering similar to Oz Comic-Con), the opening night of the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award exhibition on November 1, and the fun run that’ll round out the festivities on November 10.
